Its no news that Michigan lakeshore towns have been having to step up along with the state with additional dredging funds in the face of historic low water that threatens the states multi-billion dollar boating and fishing tourism industry. The Corps of Engineers has been strapped for funds to dredge and maintain even federally mandated channels so states and local communities have had to fill in the shortfalls. Read More

This spring Ross Laboratories will deliver a new 24-foot aluminum survey boat to the St. Paul District Fountain City Service Center. The Ross Mini-Sweep system is installed on the boat which was built by Armstrong Marine Inc. of Port Angeles Washington and was custom designed for the St. Paul District. Read More

As we go to press the National Waterways Council is holding its annual Legislative Summit in Washington D.C. Attendees are hearing from Sen. David Vitter ranking member of the Senate committee on Environment and Public Works; and Rep. Bill Shuster chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee who are informing attendees of the status of legislation and funding in congress specifically the RAMP (Realize Americas Maritime Promise) Act which has growing congressional support and broad political support among waterways operators the dredging industry and other stakeholders.
