The Corps completed an extended dredging season and in February started bringing in equipment in for seasonal maintenance and leave for the crew. The Corps Dredges Hurley and Potter completed dredging operations on the Middle Mississippi the last week of January. The dustpan dredges have been operating well beyond the normal dredging season which usually ends in early December. The Potter mobilized the first week of July and has worked throughout the 300 miles of Mississippi River in St. Louis Districts area of responsibility. The Hurley came up river from the Corps Memphis District in December and has been dredging between Thebes and Chester Illinois and also supported the rock removal efforts at Thebes by removing sand that had accumulated over the rock pinnacles. Sept-les is on the north shore of the St. Lawrence River 325 miles east of Quebec City. The project included dredging the multi-users wharf #35 at Pointe Noire. Read More

Great Lakes Dredge & Dock will begin work soon on a contract to deepen reach S-AK-3 of the Arthur Kill Channel in the Port of New York and New Jersey. The New York Engineer District awarded a contract for $41368100 to Great Lakes on January 31. The contract is to deepen the channel from the existing depth of 43 and 47 feet to 52 feet plus 1.5 feet of overdepth. Great Lakes will use its clamshell Dredge 55 and drill boat Apache on the project. Read More
