Obituary: Capt. Johnny Hugh Brown

Capt. Johnny Hugh Brown, 72, died April 19. He worked in the maritime industry since the age of 18, beginning his career in the merchant marine on a support ship sailing all over the world. Brown started in the towing industry in his early 20s and moved up through the ranks until he made captain. Over his career, he mentored many younger mariners.

He worked for only a few towing companies over the years, as he believed in being loyal to those he worked for through good times and bad. He was retired from Enterprise Marine Service and enjoyed many days of fishing, camping, gardening and bee-keeping.
