RiverWorks Discovery Photo Contest Winners

RiverWorks Discovery has announced the winner of its 2018 “Waterways Build America” Photo Contest. The contest, cosponsored by Waterways Council Inc. and The Waterways Journal, was held online in four categories: Careers, Commerce, Conservation and Culture. More than 100 photos were submitted, and they received more than 2,700 votes on line. The winner in the Commerce category is shown above: “Looking toward the Texas sky at sunset while waiting at Calcasieu Lock,” by Capt. Dean Fitzgerald on ACBL’s mv. Joe Mac Hamilton.

“Eagle in Snowstorm,” by Michael Schwenker was the winner in the Conservation category:

The winner in the Culture category: “Golding Barge Line’s mv. Andrew Golding is christened at Star Fleet,” by Melody Golding:

Finally, the winner in the Careers category was also by Melody Golding: “Deckhands walking the gunnels on barges back toward the towboat after checking the tow on mv. Austin Golding.”
