St. Louis Inland River Seminar Builds On Its Success
Building on its success, the St. Louis Inland River Seminar—sponsored by CGB Marine, Fox Smith LLC, Gallagher, Ingram, Luhr Crosby LLC, McGriff Insurance Services and The Waterways Journal—returns to St. Louis September 19 at the Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The MAC has hotel rooms available for out-of-town attendees. A networking cocktail party will take place the night before at the MAC.
This year’s list of topics includes several that were specifically requested by last year’s participants, said Ted Lucas, partner of seminar director and moderator Ron Fox. The first topic, “Managing Risks through Contracts and Insurance–Wharfinger and Fleeter Liabilities,” and the second, “Responding to a Serious Marine Accident,” were especially asked for. Fox and Lucas have broad experience successfully defending hundreds of maritime cases in many jurisdictions throughout the country.
“Salvage of a Wreck,” “Personal Injuries and Death,” “Preservation and Forensics Regarding Electronically Stored Information” and “Preparing the Corporate Representative and the Pilot to Testify” are among the other topics covered.
Participating in the seminar are Fox Smith partners Ryan Mohr and Stas Levchinsky, as well as Neal Settergren (Goldstein and Price, LLC) and Bobby Miller (Miller Hahn PLLC), all of whom have significant experience defending maritime companies.
Well-known plaintiff’s attorney Roy Dripps (Armbruster Dripps Blotevogel LLC) will speak from the plaintiff’s perspective, and Baxter Southern and Mike Brown will address insurance. The seminar will also include jury and ESI consultants.
“We are excited by the opportunity to continue a seminar for the inland river transportation and construction industries that is timely and important to their operations,” Lucas said. “Our mission is to support these inland river companies by providing a practical seminar packed with useful information.”
Registration for the all-day seminar and cocktail party is $290. “Last year’s attendees reported that the seminar was very informative and an excellent value,” Lucas said. “We plan to provide seven hours of continuing education credit for lawyers, as well as for insurance professionals. I sincerely hope the river companies will support this program by attending this year’s seminar.”
