Obituary: Gregory Hughes

Gregory Hughes, 56, a naval architect in Bremerton, Wash., died November 5, 2022, of diabetic problems. A member of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME), he worked for Art Anderson & Associates in Bremerton, Guido Perla & Associates Inc. in Seattle as a ship designer and engineer and with Perla’s offshoot, BeroTech LLC.

During his career, Hughes designed and consulted on a variety of offshore, research and military vessels, tugs, ferries and cruise ships for clients Alaska Marine Highway System, Washington State Ferries, Seattle Police Department, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Navy, NOAA and  University National Oceanographic Laboratory System. He also worked with the BeroTech team developing new designs of fishing vessels, autonomous and hybrid craft and more.
