Obituary Notice: Capt. Ralph Morley Carson

Capt. Ralph Morley “Tinker” Carson, 86, of Amherst, Va., died September 21 in Lynchburg, Va. He worked for Union Mechling and served as the original master on the 10,500 hp. towboat Jason, after which he named his son. In his later years, he served as a pilot for Madison Coal & Supply.

His brother, Capt. John Carson Sr., who died in 2011, spent his career working for the Ohio River Company, Marathon Ashland Petroleum and Neale Marine.
