Obituary Notice: Capt. Stanley Walter Silver
Capt. Stanley Walter Silver, 80, of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., died in his home with family on September 6 after a period of illness.
Silver retired after a 40-year career Ingram Barge/Materials Company. He was both a licensed captain and licensed pilot on the Mississippi, Ohio and Cumberland rivers. He was a past president of the Propeller Club, a past president of the Tennessee River Valley Association, a fourth-degree Mason and a 20-plus-year Scoutmaster. He had also been a consultant to the United States Coast Guard and consultant to the Corps of Engineers.
Silver was a historian and re-enactor for roughly 30 years. He began the Cobbs Battery re-enactment group, which he led for many years, and was instrumental in organizing several large re-enactments in several Civil War battlefields throughout his life.
