ACP Adopts CARIS Database
The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) adopted CARIS Bathy DataBASE for the storing and management of the Canel’s bathymetric information. CARIS competed the first round of technology transfer and Jose Arias with CARIS trained the group of surveyors hydrogrphers and cartographers that will operate the bathymetric data base at the Canal.
The Bathy DataBASE will also monitor navigation channel conditions as well as ongoing dredging operations. The waterways’ heavy traffic calls for robust historical survey data and the new systtem will allow for the integration of multiple data sets from multiple sources.
ACP has been using CARIS HPD since 2012 for chart production as part of the Panama Canal expansion project. It is expected that ACP will be making full use of CARIS Bathy Data-BASE by the end of 2014.
