Manson Christens Offshore Vessel EP Paup

On August 29 Manson Construction Company christened the EP Paup at the company’s Houma Louisiana yard. The new vessel is a 1000-ton derrick barge that will serve the Gulf of Mexico Oil and Gas Industry.

The vessel is named for Everett Peter Paup Manson’s Chairman of the Board.

The barge was built by Gunderson Marine in Portland Oregon and the 150-person quarters building was built by Global Maritime in Erath Louisiana. The 1000-ton crane assembly was erected and the various components integrated at Manson Gulf’s Houma Yard in Terrebonne Parish.

The Paup’s primary mission is the installation and removal of oil and gas platforms in the Gulf of Mexico or any heavy lift civil construction projects said Vincent Dinkler EP Paup project manager. With its ability to carry a crew of 156 large fuel and water capacity ABS and Coast Guard certification it can work anywhere in the world he said.

The quarters building is state-of-the-art with all staterooms having their own showers and heads recreation rooms galley seating for 90 offices conference room and barge control room. The barge is all electrically powered including the crane. The electric power comes from a 2225 kW Cat generator meeting the latest air quality standards.
There are life rafts on board for 200 percent of the crew capacity.

The barge will be towed from location to location by a tug and a crew boat is part of the marine spread.
