South African Hydro Society Plans First Conference
The Hydrographic Society of South Africa will hold the first African Hydro Conference in Cape Town November 10 through 12 2009.
The conference will be presented in conjunction with the International Federation of Hydrographic Societies (IFHS).
The venue is Cape Peninsula University of Technology’s Cape Town Hotel School. The conference with the theme Enhancing Global Capacity will include 40 technical papers and an exhibition in addition to technical workshops and boat demonstrations.
Main topics include Positioning Geophysical Metocean Education & Standards Data Management Survey Platforms Coastal Mapping Tides and Currents Marine Environments Hydrography for Marine Renewables and Case Studies.
The conference banquet on Wednesday November 11 will be held at the Moyo Restaurant at the Spier Wine Estate. The restaurant is in the form of bedouin tents and gazebos placed throughout the garden creating a setting similar to a nomadic African village.
CALL FOR PAPERS
English-language abstracts of 300 words in Microsoft Word format for proposed presentations on any of the designated topics are invited for submission by no later than June 15.
