Limitless LLC Dubai’s state-owned developer has received proposals from 10 earth-moving contractors including dredging contractors for their $61 billion project to build a 75-kilometer canal and an extensive waterfront development.

Named the Arabian Canal the waterway will flow inland from Dubai Waterfront in Jebel Ali and pass to the east of the Dubai World Central development before turning back towards the Palm Jumeirah. It will be up to 150 meters wide six meters deep and cost approximately $11 billion. The project includes a US$50 billion 20000 hectare canal-side city.

The project will be split into 10 contracts. The first contract involves excavating an eight-kilometer stretch of the waterway at the northern end of the inland section of the canal.
