APWA Commends MAP-21 Signing
The American Public Works Association (APWA) issued a statement commending President Obama for signing into law a two-year $105 billion transportation bill known as MAP-21.
“(The law will) put people to work and provide needed funding assistance for state and local transportation projects. The Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century bill reauthorizes federal highway transit and safety programs through September 30 2014” the document read.
“APWA commends the President for signing into law a transportation bill that will sustain and create jobs and ensure stable funding over the next couple years to build and repair roads bridges and public transportation systems ” APWA Executive Director Peter B. King said.
“MAP-21 includes important reforms aimed at reducing the time it takes to complete transportation improvements so projects can be built more efficiently while saving taxpayers money” said King. “APWA looks forward to working with federal state and local partners as we move forward implementing the new law” said King.
