Weeks Acquires McNally Construction

Weeks Marine announced on July 8 that it had acquired McNally Construction of Hamilton Ontario.

“With this acquisition Weeks Marine strengthens its presence in North America’s tunneling industry and establishes a significant presence in Canada” said Richard S. Weeks president and CEO.

“Bringing McNally in the Weeks family enhances our ability to compete with the increasingly multi-national players in our industry” he said.

McNally will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Weeks Marine Inc. and will continue to operate in the tunneling and marine construction markets in both Canada and the United States as well as in the Canadian dredging market.

The company is listed in the IDR Directory of Dredge Owners and Operators as a dredging contractor who performs navigation dredging in the Great Lakes St. Lawrence River and Eastern Canada. The company owns the 16-inch cutter dredge John Holden and 10 mechanical dredges.

In recent years McNally acquired the marine equipment of Beaver Construction Canadian Dredge & Dock Cartier Construction and Pitts International.

McNally maintains offices in Ontario Quebec Atlantic Canada and Cleveland Ohio. Its annual revenue for the fiscal year ending April 30 2011 was $150 million.

Recent projects involving dredging include: the Belledune RO-RO facility Halifax Port Authority’s Pier C Expansion and Vale Inco’s Long Harbour Wharf Improvement Project.

The company has completed many high-profile construction and tunneling projects including the Sheppard Subway in Toronto the Bruce Nuclear intake in Port Elgin Ontario and the extension of the South Light Rail Transit System in Edmonton Alberta; the Raglan Mine Wharf in Deception Bay Quebec and remediation of the Sydney Tar Ponds Nova Scotia.

McNally is the first North American tunneling and marine contractor to achieve ISO registration for quality management systems environmental management systems and OHSAS certification for health and safety management systems.
