Uljanik Delivers Dredge Ferno de Magalhes to Jan De Nul
On April 19 Uljanik shipyard delivered the self-propelled cutter suction dredge Fernão de Magalhães to Jan De Nul Luxembourg S.A. a Jan de Nul Group Company.
The dredge is one of four sister ships Jan De Nul is adding to their fleet. Two others – the Ibn Battuta and Zheng He – have been delivered and the fourth will be delivered later this year.
The Fernão de Magalhães has a total installed horsepower of 23520; length – 138 meters (452.8 feet); breadth – 26 meters (85.3 feet); draft – 5.5 meters (18 feet); dredging depth – 35 meters (114.8 feet); pump 900 x 900 mm 35.4 x 35.4 inches); speed – 13 knots; and living quarters for 46 people.
Jan De Nul announced that in recent months the Group has received dredging contracts worth more than a billion euros. The work is in South America and the Caribbean (11 projects) Africa (one project) Europe ( two projects) and Southeast Asia and Australia (seven projects).
