Elastec Booms Will Contain Burn and Disperse Spilled Oil

Elastec/American Marine has shipped 48350 feet (9.14 miles) of a specialized containment boom to assist in containing spilled oil from the Deepwater Horizon drilling platform in the Gulf of Mexico.

The patented Hydro-Fire® Boom system is a state-of-the-art inflatable fire resistant water cooled boom (see illustration) developed to contain surface oil and burn it offshore saving destruction of critical environmentally-sensitive shoreline habitats.

Elastec/American Marine CEO Donnie Wilson and other employees assisted BP PLC and the United States Coast Guard with a test burn on Wednesday April 28 that was successful and as of May 5 had six more systems en route with additional burns scheduled to begin the same week.
The company is also sending their patented NeatSweep® System for applying dispersants. NeatSweep collects a broad swath of oil funneling the slick into a narrow band where dispersant is applied at full concentration.
Other Elastec/American Marine personnel on site are Vice President Jeff Cantrell Shon Mosier Charlie Storey and Alex Smith.

The company has locations in Carmi Illinois and Cocoa Florida.
