International Association of Dredging Companies Announces Young Author Award Winner
This year’s International Association of Dredging Companies (IADC) Young Author Award was given to François De Keuleneer, the co-author and presenter of “Enhancing Workability by Operational Wave Modelling.”
The Young Author Award winner is an Environment Engineer at DEME-group working in the marine engineering industry with a focus on wave data acquisition systems and workability of vessels. He is also a member of the supervisory board of Ecosystem Restoration Camps, an organization applying cooperative efforts for the ecological restoration of degraded lands.
The paper introduced an innovative workability tool (WoTo) to objectify the decision-making process regarding the weather conditions when working in harsh weather conditions, especially in regions around the world with problematic wave climates. Co-authors of the paper include Joris de Vroom of BMT Argoss and Arjan Mol of DEME-group.
The IADC’s Young Author Award is given annually to “to stimulate the promotion of new ideas and encourage younger men and women in the dredging industry.” The award is granted at industry-leading conferences, with 2018’s winning young author selected from the proceedings of the 34th PIANC World Congress.
