Louisiana’s State of the Coast Conference to be Held in New Orleans
The Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority has partnered with The Water Institute of the Gulf and Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana to produce the fifth biennial State of the Coast Conference at the Morial Convention Center in New Orleans May 30 to June 1, 2018.
The event will feature concurrent sessions by leading experts, as well as keynote presentations and poster sessions on topics such as hurricane protection, project performance, adaptive management, evolving technology, program financing, design challenges, policy issues and stakeholder engagement. More than 1,000 scientists, landowners, agency personnel, local officials, industry and business leaders and resource users will be in attendance.
There will be a mini-conference entitled “Restoration on the Half Shell” that will provide information about the land loss, flood risk and plans for solutions in Louisiana presented in a less technical format than offered at the main State of the Coast event. New this year is a Women’s Coastal Leadership Breakfast to recognize the dedication, innovation and leadership of the many women working on coastal issues in roles such as academics, engineering, public agency leadership, and community organizers.
