ECUADOR REVIEWING YILPORT CONTRACT

The Ecuadorian Ministry of Public Works (MTOP) said in late November it has set a commission to evaluate the concession contract of Turkish port operator Yillport which operates the Port of Bolivar in the south part of the country. “These contracts are public. Thus they can be reviewed and questioned at any time by any person” Paúl Granda minister at MTOP said in a statement. The Ecuadorian government said at the time it was about to set export prices for banana in order to not harm the local banana exporting sector.
Mexico’s Port of Mazatlán Expects Dredging

The Mexican Port of Mazatlán in the state of Sinaloa has opened a dredging tender which has been delayed since 2013 due to lack of resources. The Mazatlán port administration or the Administración Portuaria Integral (API) is taking proposals for the tender until December 11 2017. According to API Mazatlán the tender is to dredge about 1.3 million cubic meters (1.7 million cubic yards) which are mainly made of rocky materials. The dredging tender which is described by the API Mazatlán as part of a modernization project for the port should bring its depth to 15.2 meters (49.8 feet) from the port’s navigable channel to the Dársena de Ciaboga section. Once awarded the project should be completed by the first half of 2018.

Dredging at the Mexican Port of Mazatlán is expected to be completed in this year.
