News Last Olmsted Shell Placed January 8, 2018 By Waterways Journal Braving high river velocity and single-digit temperatures on the lower Ohio River, crews reached a critical Olmsted Dam project milestone on December 28: the setting of the final navigable pass shell. Installation of shell “12A” marks the completion of the Olmsted dam surface. All structural elements are now in place to hold the pool. The next step is the delivery of the wicket lifter “Keen” on February 14. Corps officials expect to have Olmsted Lock and Dam operational by this summer.
