Loadstar Celebrates Four Years Of Service, Expands To Corpus Christi

Loadstar, a product-handling and site logistics company based in Baton Rouge, La., marked four years of service on February 1. The company provides tankerman and dock services, barge fleeting, rail and truck loading, rail switching, and warehouse and terminal operations.

“Loadstar promotes values I have lived throughout my career,” said company founder and CEO Brian Haymon, whose father started the first tankerman service in the United States in 1952. “Treat people right, be honest and transparent and deliver outstanding safety, quality and service.”

Since its founding, Loadstar has been recognized for its safety culture, and in each of the past two years, the Baton Rouge Business Report has named the company on its list of “Best Places to Work.”

“We are very proud of our safety record,” Haymon said. “Sustaining an incident-free operation is our number one priority.”

Regarding the Baton Rouge Business Report list, Brett Murray, vice president of operations for Loadstar, said the honor highlights the hard work company personnel have put in since day one.

“This recognition is deeply gratifying,” Murray said. “It validates our efforts to make Loadstar a truly special place to work.”

Loadstar is a leader in innovation, being the first company to offer flexible off days to its on-call tankermen.

“Some people thought that idea would never work,” Murray said, “but it has been a game- changer that improves the work-life balance for our tankermen.”

Loadstar was also the first to develop virtual reality (VR) training for railcar loading. Last year, the company introduced VR into its tankerman training as part of its Coast Guard-approved Loadstar Tankerman Academy. The company has also created its own proprietary logistics software, named Aegis, that features a secure portal that allows customers to view real-time data from the field through a smartphone app. The company also uses artificial intelligence to speed payroll/billing and enhance safety observations and coaching.

In January, Loadstar launched operations in Corpus Christi, Texas, thus extending the company’s coverage to every major Gulf Coast port from Mobile, Ala., to Brownsville, Texas.

“We are excited to be in Corpus Christi, and we look forward to providing our customers in south Texas with the premier service the industry has come to expect from Loadstar.
