During the D-Train Commodore’s Banquet August 24 in New Orleans, Rear Adm. David Barata (right), commander of the Eighth Coast Guard District, presented the Coast Guard Auxiliary Meritorious Service Award to Commodore Richard B. McConnell Jr. (center-left) in honor of his 60 years of service in the auxiliary. McConnell received the award alongside his wife, Mary (center-right), who has 57 years of auxiliary service.
