Vicksburg, Miss.-based Golding Barge Line (GBL) has powered its recently delivered mv. Scott Golding with a pair of Mitsubishi Tier 4 engines from Laborde Products, a leading supplier of marine engines and power solutions for the inland market. The engines are each capable of producing 1,260 hp. at 1,600 rpm.

With the addition of the mv. Scott Golding, GBL’s fleet stands at 31 towboats, along with 66 barges. Founded by Steve Golding in 1995, Golding Barge Line specializes in the transport of refined petroleum products, petrochemicals and aggregates.

The Mitsubishi S12R Tier 4 engines from Laborde Products use selective catalytic reduction to meet emission requirements, while also offering the simple, mechanical controls Mitsubishi marine diesels are known for.

“Golding Barge Line is proud to welcome our first Mitsubishi propulsion system to the fleet,” said Austin Golding, president of Golding Barge Line. “The experience with Laborde Products has been exceptional. These Tier 4 engines are not only environmentally friendly but also extremely efficient, which is vital for our operations. We’re excited to take this step toward the future with Laborde Products and Mitsubishi.”

The Scott Golding, built by Vessel Repair in Port Arthur, Texas, measures 74 feet by 34 feet with a depth of 10.4 feet. Golding Barge Line lists total horsepower at 2,400. Located on the Sabine Neches Ship Channel, Vessel Repair specializes in marine repair, new construction and major overhauls for vessels and barges. The company provides comprehensive services including blasting, painting, piping fabrication and heavy shaping, with a team of American Bureau of Shipping-certified welders.

While the Mitsubishi engines aboard the mv. Scott Golding are the first for a Golding Barge Line vessel, the engine package represents Laborde Products’ broader commitment to innovation, leadership and partnership in marine propulsion.

“At Laborde Products, we focus on providing an exceptional experience for our customers at every stage,” said Brian Laborde, president and CEO of Laborde Products. “From the initial consultation to the final installation and ongoing support, we’re proud to partner with Golding Barge Line in introducing Mitsubishi Tier 4 engines to their fleet, offering a simple and reliable engine solution.”

According to Laborde Products, Mitsubishi’s Tier 4 engines “provide a cost-effective and eco-conscious solution that aligns with the industry’s evolving standards.”
