New Waterways Journal Digital Options On The Way

The Waterways Journal has been a trusted source of news and insight for the marine transportation and logistics industry in the United States since 1887.

That’s a long time. If you want to see how different things were 50, 100 or 137 years ago in the maritime industry, just take a look at “This Week” or the “Old Boat Column” in the most recent issue of the magazine.

Anyone involved in business knows that change is inevitable and innovation is critical. That’s true for the maritime industry, and it’s equally true for this publication. In the weeks ahead, readers of The Waterways Journal’s digital products will notice some updates that will make content more accessible and custom-tailored for users.

Top of the list is a transition from WJ’s longtime .net domain to waterwaysjournal.com. Digital subscribers have already seen this change with WJ’s weekly newsletters, and now the two domains can be used interchangeably.

Sign up for Waterway Journal's weekly newsletter. Our weekly newsletter delivers the latest inland marine news straight to your inbox including breaking news, our exclusive columns and much more.

Digital subscription levels are also changing, with three new options for readers.

First, The Waterways Journal will offer a Free Digital Subscription to qualified industry professionals or students. The Free Digital Subscription includes 50-plus weeks per year of the digital edition of The Waterways Journal with access limited to the current week’s edition. This subscription level will also include access to free industry newsletters and limited website access. The Free Digital Subscription will not include access to premium content (digital edition archives, online article archives, industry surveys, reports and other paid subscriber-only content).

WJ also will offer two paid digital subscription levels. Paid Premium Access–Digital & Print will include 50-plus weeks of digital and print editions of The Waterways Journal per year; unlimited website access, including searchable articles older than one year, digital edition archives and premium subscriber-only content. In addition, subscribers at this level will receive subscriber-only discounts for event attendance and access to all industry newsletters.

A second subscription level, Paid Premium Access–Digital Only, will offer the same access as the Digital & Print level, only without The Waterways Journal’s signature weekly print magazine.

Current digital subscribers will have to update login information on The Waterways Journal’s website. Subscribers will use an email address as the new username and provide a new password.

If you are a print subscriber and would like to take advantage of a complimentary digital subscription, then we welcome you to join our growing online community. Look for the “Activate your digital access” button at the top of the subscribe page.

The Waterways Journal is here to build community, profile individuals and companies impacting the maritime industry, and keep readers informed on topics like industry regulations and compliance issues, the latest technologies and innovations shaping the maritime industry, trends in fleet management, waterway conditions and operational best practices.
