Obituary: Capt. John Williams

Capt. John Williams, 73, of Grand Tower, Ill., died April 8 in a Cape Girardeau, Mo., hospital of natural causes. After beginning his river career as a deckhand, he served in the Vietnam War from 1967–1969, and then returned to the rivers, eventually earning his captain’s license. He worked for a variety of companies until retiring five or six years ago.
