Kentucky Grant Program Seeks Applicants
Kentucky has allocated $500,000 toward its public riverports as part of this year’s Kentucky Riverport Improvement grant program and issued a call for applicants.
Public riverports located in Kentucky that are interested in applying for the grant must email their application in .pdf form by 4 p.m. Eastern time May 14. Mailed paper copies are not being accepted this year due to COVID-19 restrictions.
The application and guidance documents are available on the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s website at https://transportation.ky.gov/MultimodalFreight/Pages/Ky-Riverport-Grant-Program.aspx.
Funding for the program was allocated by the Kentucky General Assembly for Fiscal Year 2022. Grant awards are limited to a maximum of 50 percent of the actual project cost with the applicant providing the other 50 percent or more of the project cost.
The Kentucky Riverport Improvement program was established in fiscal year 2013. It provides grants for public riverport authorities to fund dredging or maintenance of access. Eligible projects may include dredging, improvement of riverport facilities, infrastructure or critical material-handling equipment within the boundaries of the riverport. Plans and studies are not eligible to be funded.
