Supreme Manufacturing Awarded Clamshell Dredge Contract

Supreme Manufacturing Inc. has been awarded a contract to build a new clamshell dredge for an eastern Long Island sand and gravel producer.

The MD-13 gantry-style dredge has a 13-cubic-yard bucket, according to Supreme Manufacturing. The producer, who was not named, looked to Supreme Manufacturing to provide a long-term solution to allow the company to meet the demand of the expanding Long Island construction industry.

Supreme is targeting early 2022 for commissioning.

 “Long Island has been one of Supreme’s strongest regions for over a decade now,” Supreme Manufacturing President Neil Hoobler said. “We credit the proven success of our other dredges on the island for continuing to make the case to producers to invest in long-term savings.  We are blessed to be building another dredge on the island.  As is often the case, this type of capital purchase is the result of extensive long-term planning and decision making on the customer’s part. We’re just honored to be a partner in it.”
