Obituary: Capt. Russell “Bosco” Paul Plaisance
Capt. Russell “Bosco” Paul Plaisance, 72, founder of LA Carriers LLC, a native of Cut Off, La. and resident of Larose, La., passed away November 27. After spending much of his adult life as a captain aboard tugboats and supply vessels at Guidry Brothers Towing, Lockport Tugs and Galliano Tugs, Plaisance took a chance and started his own tug boat company in 1986, LA Carriers. From one to two to three… to 13 boats, he built his fleet by tandem towing scrap from Tampa to New Orleans. He created the successful business with only a middle school education and with the support of his wife of 54 years, said his son Tommy, operations manager, adding, “Anyone who knew him certainly never forgot him. He was one of a kind.” Other relatives in the business are another son, Johnny, daughter Tricia and three grandchildren: Tresten, Trey and Kaitlin.
