Obituary: Red Griffin
Edgar C. “Red” Griffin, former president of Coastal Towing and co-founder of Grifco Transportation, died January 6. He was 86. Coastal Towing was a Houston-based transporter of black oil in the 1970s. He left in 2001 after Kirby Corporation bought Coastal, and he started Grifco Transportation with his son Clay. They sold Grifco to Genesis Energy in 2008, and Red Griffin retired in 2009.
