Obituary Notice: Capt. Clayton E. Hanlin

Capt. Clayton E. Hanlin, 90, formerly of Hamilton, Ill., died October 25 at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy, Ill..

An Airborne Ranger in the Army during the Korean conflict, Hanlin was awarded a Bronze Star with Valor and the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Clusters. On the 50th anniversary of the Korean War, he was selected to take part in the ceremonies in Washington, D.C., where he was personally thanked by the Korean ambassador for his service.

He held a Master Pilot license and spent 52 years operating towboats, mainly on the Upper Mississippi, Illinois and Ohio rivers.
