Obituary Notice: Curran Streckfus

Curran Streckfus, 77, alternate master of the steamer Admiral in the early 1970s and master of the mv. President in the late ’70s in New Orleans, died October 23. Capt. Curran operated excursions on the mv. Samuel Clemens in Baton Rouge from 1981 until 1994 when he became director of marine operations for the Belle of Baton Rouge Casino. From 2007 until his retirement in 2011, he was director of marine operations for the Louisiana Department of Transportation, overseeing shipyard work for the Louisiana State Ferries.
