Obituary: John Niehaus
John Niehaus, former partner in Lewis & Clark Marine of Granite City, Ill., died August 20 after battling ALS for two years. Originally from Reading, Ohio, he earned a football scholarship to the University of Alabama, where he played linebacker for Coach Paul “Bear” Bryant.
His career in the river transportation business took him to Cincinnati, Ohio; Greenville, Miss.; St. Louis and Cape Girardeau, Mo.; and finally to Granite City. He retired from Lewis & Clark in 2013.
