Obituary: Violet Schmerbach Foley

Violet Schmerbach Foley, 105, of Andalusia, Ill., died May 6 at Lutheran Living Senior Care in Muscatine, Iowa. She and her husband, Capt. William Foley, were married in 1934 and lived in Rock Island, Ill. In 1956–57, they built the Sequoia Motel and River Queen Restaurant near Andalusia, Ill.

She was active in the Midwest Riverboat Buffs for many years and enjoyed many trips aboard the Delta Queen and Mississippi Queen, piloted by her husband.
