Council for Dredging and Marine Construction Safety Seeks Nominees for Safety Awards
The Council for Dredging and Marine Construction Safety (CDMCS) is accepting nominations for safety awards to be presented at its annual safety awards ceremony. The safety awards ceremony recognizes outstanding safety leadership in the dredging and marine construction industry.
Nominations can be submitted for the Individual Leadership in Safety Award, the Corporate Leadership in Safety Award and the Safety Leadership Certificate of Appreciation for a government individual. Nominations should be sent directly to Devon Carlock before October 14.
This year’s Guest of Honor for the ceremony will be the State of Louisiana’s Commissioner of Conservation, the Hon. Richard Ieyoub, who serves as the chief regulator of the oil and gas industry in Louisiana and exercises jurisdiction over the natural resources of the state. Ieyoub also works closely with the CDMCS’s pipeline task force.
In additional information, CDMCS has made available a safety video on ergonomics that was shared by Manson Construction. Ergonomics is the study of how human beings interface with the workplace. Specifically, it involves the design of equipment, devices and methods used at work, as well as the work environment itself. It takes into account not only how tools and machines are made but also how humans are made, how they move, and how they interact with their environment. The overall goal of ergonomics is to reduce risk factors and design job tasks to minimize the stress on the human body, ultimately improving job efficiency and productivity.
All CDMCS Members and the public can stream the video from the council’s Safety Videos Page.
