Team Services Expands To Memphis

Team Services LLC, the Baton Rouge, La.-based inland marine tankerman company with a network of licensed tankermen serving facilities all along the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway and the Lower Mississippi River, has recently expanded its area of operations to include Memphis, Tenn.

The company currently employs a handful of tankermen in the Memphis area who are able to dispatch to areas in Tennessee and potentially into Arkansas.

“We saw the need from customers in that area and expanded up there earlier this year,” said Will Hayes, director of marketing and business development for Team Services. “Our core business is shore tankermen from Brownsville, Texas, over to Mobile, Ala., and up to Memphis now.”

With the new tankermen based in Memphis, Team Services can now cover the Tennessee Valley.

The company also recently relocated its Houston base of operations from Channelview to Deer Park to meet growing demand for its tankerman services there.

“With that move, we have more space to accommodate growth,” Hayes said. “The Houston area is actually our largest area of growth right now, so we needed a bigger spot.”

Started in 2007, Team Services began with a small core group of founders, a handful of tankermen and a dispatcher. Shore tankerman services remains the core business for Team Services, but the company has also expanded to now include terminal, dock and storage facility operations. The facilities-services business is centered along the Gulf Coast.

Hayes said Team Services is also beginning to offer training services and third party assessments for towing company tankermen. In that case, Team Services sends a dedicated operations specialist to a towing company’s dock or shore facility to assess tankermen based on Team Services’ best practices.

In each case, the company is staying true to its name, which emphasizes the need for partnerships and teamwork for safe and efficient operations along the nation’s waterways and within the larger oil and gas industry.
