Body Recovered In Pickwick Lake

Authorities in Hardin County, Tenn., recovered a body in Pickwick Lake, but it had not been identified at press time, nor was it known whether the find was related to a missing deckhand. The partially decomposed body was sent to a medical examiner’s office in Memphis to determine identification and cause of death.

Pickwick Lake is a Tennessee River pool behind Pickwick Dam. The body was recovered at Mile 209 at about noon March 22.

Hardon County Sherriff John Alexander told local media outlets the body was first spotted by a fisherman. He said he could not be sure whether or not the body was that of a deckhand who went missing from an American Commercial Barge Line towboat on January 25. The missing deckhand’s name has not been released.
