Obituary Notice: James William ‘Jim’ Huls

James William “Jim” Huls passed away at age 75 on October 4 in Olive Branch, Miss.

After graduating from St. Louis University in St. Louis, Mo., where he was born, he held positions in freight sales for various barge lines. According to a Waterways Journal story of November 26, 1977, Huls joined Inland Oil & Transport Company as marketing manager for water transportation. Before that he served as traffic manager for SCNO barge Lines Inc. Huls’ career later brought him to Memphis with American Commercial Barge Line.

He served the Boy Scouts of America in numerous roles and later in his life worked for the organization as a professional scouter.

A celebration of Huls’ life will be held October 27 at 3:30 p.m. at Spitfire Acres, located at 5198 Tchulahoma Rd., Southaven, Miss.
