Royston has been contracted by CEMEX UK Marine to install its advanced enginei electronic fuel management system (EFMS) in the first dredging vessel commissioned by CEMEX in 20 years.
Damen Shipyards Galati in Romania built CEMEX Go Innovation using a comprehensive suite of advanced digital marine technologies, facilities and equipment designed to enhance safety and efficiency. Real-time information tools should reduce fuel and maintenance costs, while providing crew and operators up to the minute engine performance and mission critical information. Coriolis flowmeters and sensors monitor fuel consumption of each engine, which is tracked against GPS data, voyage details and operational mode. Data is relayed to the bridge where the operator can make appropriate adjustments to reduce fuel consumption.
The 100-meter (328 foot) long, 7,000-ton vessel will replace CEMEX’s Sand Heron. The dredge has been designed to remove sand and gravel from depths of up to 55 meters (180 feet), including in the challenging conditions of the North Sea. The dredge is expected to be completed in late 2019.
