Imperial River Transport Adding To Fleet

Imperial River Transport LLC, Imperial, Pa., recently purchased the mv. Boonesboro, an 80-foot, 1,400 hp. towboat, from AEP River Transportation, West Columbia, W.Va. The boat was built in 1970 by Barbour Metal Boat Works and repowered in 1991 with Cat 3508 engines. The sale was handled by Merrill Marine Services.

Imperial River Transport is renaming the vessel Taylor Nicole after the niece of owner David Johnson. The company will repaint the vessel in its company colors, which are white with red and blue pinstripes, and use it on the upper Ohio River and tributaries, said Johnson.

Earlier this year, Imperial River Transport bought the mv. L.C. Williams from Kirby Inland Marine and renamed it Hailey Nicole. It is a 105-foot, 3,050 hp. towboat built in 1981.
