Ocean Scientific International Ltd. (OSIL) provided a turbidity monitoring solution to construction company Dragados UK to report on the dredging activities of the Aberdeen Harbour Expansion Project.
OSIL supplied two 1.9 meter (6.2 feet) buoy platforms to provide continuous sediment monitoring during dredging operations. Each buoy is equipped with standalone turbidity sensors that are set up to trigger an alarm if the buoy reports a rise in readings above a pre-determined threshold.
OSIL technicians conducted pre-installation monitoring during the building and testing of the buoys and were onsite for the installation of the buoys. OSIL completed the entire process from quotation to installation (including meeting clients, specifying requirements, building and shipping the buoys) in less than two months. The construction and installation of the buoys itself took one month from receipt of the order.
