Brazil to Auction State-Run Port Administrator
The Brazilian Ministry of Transports, Ports and Civil Aviation (MTPA) has included Maranhao state-run Port Administrator Companhia Docas do Maranhao (Codomar) in a nation’s concessions program, also known as the Investment Partnership Program (PPI). Brazil expects to “privatize” the state-owned company, in a move to help the country increase tax revenues while reducing debt. There’s no timeline for Codomar to be sold or auctioned. Brazil’s MTPA will handle the privatization process for Codomar, under the watch of the Ministry of Planning, Development and Management.
