Construction of the area known as Berth № 1-z at the Androsovsky Quay Pier part of the Odessa Sea Trade Port the Odessa Branch of the state enterprise Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA) was announced in early October 2017. The announcement was made on the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority’s electronic procurement system Prozorro with a call for proposals. Submissions were accepted for a month until November 9 2017.
The tender is to build a general cargo berth for Panamax ships and dredge the adjacent waters at the Port of Odessa. This competitive tender is open to both Ukrainian and foreign companies and aims to complete the construction of a berth designed for handling of general cargoes on the “Androsovsky Mole.” The project should take about a year and cost US$7.7 million (203373830 UAH Ukrainian Hryvnia).
On April 13 2013 the first phase of a grain terminal on the Androsovsky Mole was opened. This latest tender will create a new general cargo berth with a length of 254 meters (834 feet) and a depth under the berth of 12 meters (39 feet).
According to the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority implementation of the project is being carried out with the cooperation among state and port operators private investors and international financial institutions. While the berth will be able to accommodate Panamax vessels it will also house a modern powerful grain terminal at the rear of the berth. This will positively affect the export capacity of Ukraine’s grain industry and increase revenues from port dues on all levels.
