Van Oord turns 150

In 2018 Van Oord dredging and marine contractor, headquartered in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, is celebrating its 150th anniversary. The first announcement came in the form of a video which introduces their jubilee theme, “Marine Ingenuity.”

While Van Oord began as a family business in 1868, it has grown into one of the largest dredging and marine contractors in the world. The core of this growth and its transformation came in the late 1990s when the European dredging industry saw unprecedented consolidation. That process resulted in the merger of Van Oord ACZ and Ballast Ham Dredging, resulting in the present-day Van Oord. Despite its enormous growth and international presence, the company to this day remains a family business. Various celebratory activities are planned for the upcoming year.
