Kongsberg Releases Third Generation Multibeam Echo Sounder
Kongsberg has released the third generation of its 30kHz Multibeam Echo Sounder System, with an increased range and resolution performance.
The new EM 304 is used for seabed mapping to depths up to 8,000 meters (26,200 feet) and with low sound levels protects the marine life where surveying is occurring. The system is compatible with Kongsberg’s datagram format that includes extended backscatter calibration and several other features, and is supported by Kognifai, the company’s open digital ecosystem. As an updated version of the EM 302, the EM 304 uses the same transducers to simply upgrades. The transducers can also be delivered with ice windows for protection, enabling vessels up to heavy ice-breakers to operate in the worst ice conditions.
