Royal IHC Begins Construction on Multi-purpose TSHD

Royal IHC has begun construction of new multi-purpose 5.450 cubic meter trailing suction hopper dredge DC Orisant.

Built for Den Herder (Reimerswaal Dredging) and Group de Cloedt the dredge is specifically designed for sand and gravel removal for the construction industry but will also have the ability to conduct maintenance dredging and beach nourishment. 

The vessel will be 14230 meters long have a draft of 730 meters a weight of 11990 gross tons and a hopper capacity of 5450 meters cubed. The dredger can dredge to 35 meters has a dredge pipe diameter of 1100 milmeters

The steel cutting ceremony for the TSHD was held March 15 with the date of final delivery expected sometime in July 2018.
