OSIL INTRODUCES BUOY AND 30-METER PISTON CORER
Ocean Scientific International Ltd. (OSIL) has introduced two new products the Small Field Buoy and the 30-meter (98-foor) Giant Piston Corer.
The new buoy has a 55-centimeter (21-inch) platform is 1.8 meters (5.8 feet) in length and weighs 35 kilograms (77 lbs). It sits higher in the water making it suitable for all applications including harbour and coastal monitoring and maritime traffic control.
The buoy can accommodate 4off 14W solar panels with battery backup datalogger and telemetry system(s) including UHF/VHF GSM GPRS and Satellite with 60kg (132 lbs) net buoyancy. OSIL provides a complete data telemetry solution including either desk top or web-based software packages to access the data.
OSIL’s new 30-meter (98-foot) Giant Piston Corer was produced for the First Institute of Oceanography (FIO) State Oceanic Administration (SOA) in China. Manufactured with carbon or stainless steel the corer has a unique integral piston that reduces internal friction to prevent plugging. The product allows for core samples up to 60 meters (196 feet).
In March OSIL supplied Exploration Electronics with a 10-meter Vibrocorer system for us in its rental pool. Exploration Electronics specialises in the rental and operation of marine seismic systems for oil and gas exploration hazardous site surveys and engineering investigations. The purchase of this system adds to Exploration Electronics’ existing rental pool of seabed sampling equipment which includes CPTs Vibrocorers Piston Corers OSIL Box Corers Grabs and Multi (Multiple) Corers.
