LIEBHERR CRAWLER CRANE DREDGES SWISS ALPS LAKE
Liebherr-Werk Nenzing GmbH has been contracted to use the new HS 8130 HD cycle duty crawler crane to dredge sediment off the filter grids of the Lake Luzzone reservoir in the Swiss Alps.
The project is expected to take the next two summers and upon completion will allow the power station in Ovivone to operate at full capacity generating 23400 MWh of energy. The power station filters are partially blocked by 125000 cubic meters (163494 cubic yards) of material at depths of up to 200 meters (656 feet).
The HS 8130 HD uses a specially produced mechanical clamshell bucket from Negrini and has a load capacity of 130 tons. The crane is powered by a V8 diesel engine and its upper carriage has railings walkways and pedestals to ensure crew safety.
