MAINTENANCE DREDGING COMPLETED AT KILOMETER 11 OF PORT OF BARRANQUILLA
Colombian river management authority Cormagdalena said maintenance dredging was successfully completed at kilometer 11 of the access channels of Colombia’s Port of Barranquilla in early December 2016. Jan De Nul’s trailing suction hopper dredge (TSHD) Pedro Álvarez de Cabral removed between 120000 and 150000 cubic meters (about 157000 and 196000 cubic yards) of material but bathymetry should then determine the proper aquatic surface relief where dredging was performed.
Asoportuaria suggested river management authority Cormagdalena should use trailing suction hopper dredge (TSHD) Pedro Álvarez de Cabral to dredge the kilometer 11 of the port’s access channel. The TSHD vessel will be used by European Dredging Company to dredge the port’s access channel at the kilometer 21.
