DAMEN DESIGN KRASNOYE SORMOVO SHIPYARD DELIVER SHIPS FOR ROSMORPORT RUSSIA
In the last several months the Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard on the Volga River has delivered three 1000 cubic meter trailing suction hopper dredges ordered by Russia’s Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Rosmorport.” The trailing suction hoppers were designed by Damen Shipyards Gorinchem the Netherlands with the working design documentation provided by the Volga-Caspian Design Bureau (MNP Group) Russia.
The first hopper dredge the Sommers was launched in June and started working in the Port of Makhachkala which is located on the western shore of the Caspian Sea. The second of three trailing suction hopper dredges the Kronshlot was delivered at the end of August. She was deployed to the seaport of Saint Petersburg and is working on maintenance dredging projects for Rosmor-port’s North-Western Basin Branch. The third vessel in this series the Kadosh was launched in October. This completes the contract between Rosmorport and the shipyard that was signed in April 2014. All three dredges have been built with equipment necessary to plow the seas in the harsh climatic conditions of the region and all will have an outboard multifunctional submersible groundwater pump type DOP 200. Damen has delivered several dredges to Rosmorport which also deploys a number of Damenbuilt ice class tugs and other support vessels.
