BOSKALIS UNVEILS SCULPTURE AT PUNTA PACIFIC ISLAND

Dutch dredging contractor Royal Boskalis Westminster unveiled a sculpture in the Punta Pacifica island it helped build in Panama City from 2011 to 2013. Called Ocean Reef I the 13.75-meter (about 45.11-foot) tall piece contains elements that refer to the marine life in the immediate vicinity of the islands. It weighs 35 tons and will be accompanied by a smaller sculpture on the second island early in 2017. Boskalis held a ceremony while unveiling the carving made by artist Ruud Kuijer. Officials and executives attending the event included Boskalis representatives and the client. Pan-ama’s District Mayor José Isabel Blandón Finance and Economy Vice-Minister Ivan Zarak Commerce and Industry Vice-Minister Manuel Grimaldo Panama’s Maritime Authority (AMP) Administrator Jorge Barakat the ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Panama Dirk Janssen Boskalis CEO Peter Berdowski and the CEO of Ocean Reef Marina Alfredo Aleman also attended the ceremony.
